HC Deb 30 June 1995 vol 262 c814W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prison inmates serving a sentence of over 10 years' imprisonment have been granted home leave during the last 12 months. [31100]

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Brian Landers to Mr. Tom Cox, dated 30 June 1995: The Home Secretary has asked me, in the absence of the Director General from the office, to reply to your recent Question about how many prison inmates serving a sentence of over ten years imprisonment have been granted home leave during the last twelve months. Home leave, as such, has not occurred since 24 April 1995 when the systems of temporary absence were revised. In the 12 months to 24 April 1995 some 680 prisoners serving sentences of over ten years (including life) were granted home leave.
