(3) if he will list for (a) Sheffield and (b) all the metropolitan boroughs the total value of each supplementary credit approval granted for each of the last three years.[3193]

Supplementary credit approvals, SCAs, may be issued at any time during the financial year and are valid for expenditure incurred up to the end of the financial year in question. If they are not used, the local authority is expected to return the SCA to the Department for reissue to another authority.

The following SCAs have been issued to Sheffield city council by my Department in the last three years:

1992–93:£1,175k1993–94:

  2. (b) £1,391k

1994–95

  1. (a) £529k
  2. (b) £244k
  3. (c) £80k
  4. (d) £419k.

None of these SCAs has been returned to the Department.
