Mr. Donohoe

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list for each health board area in Scotland(a) the number of patients treated by dentists and (b) the number of patients treated by a dentist who did not make any payment for their treatment for each financial year since 1985–86. [15531]

2 1991–92 onwards information relates to all courses of treatment for adults and to courses of treatment for children where an item-of-service fee was paid. Since October 1990 most treatment for children has been provided under capitation arrangements and is not counted as individual courses of treatment.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland pursuant to his answer on 21 March,Official Report, column 174, what was the number of (a) deregistrations from NHS dentists to enter private contract by agreement, (b) deregistrations attributable to a dentist leaving a practice and (c) NHS registered dental patients, in respect of each health board area in Scotland and in respect of each year since 1991–92.
