HC Deb 14 June 1994 vol 244 c356W
Mr. David Porter

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make it his policy to consider further a scheme to enable small companies which have been established for about five years to expand their premises, their staff and their output through some tax-friendly assistance; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dorrell

Proposals for measures to help business will be carefully considered in the run-up to the next Budget. Last year's Budgets included several measures to encourage the growth of small companies. In particular, the enterprise investment scheme and venture capital trusts will stimulate funds for unquoted trading companies. Relief on capital gains where proceeds are reinvested in unquoted trading companies, and retirement relief, also give an incentive to invest in small companies.
