HC Deb 19 July 1994 vol 247 c175W
Mr. Miller

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what investigations are carried out by Her Majesty's Government into the background of foreign nationals wishing to invest in property in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Charles Wardle

Under the immigration rules a person may be refused leave to enter on the ground that his exclusion is conducive to the public good, in the light of his character, conduct or associations. Inquiries into these matters are made where there is reason to do so, but there are no special arrangements in respect of people seeking admission with a view to investing in property.
