§ Mr. MacleanEstimates for the average number of days in custody in Prison Service establishments in England and Wales are published in table 2.1 of "Prison Statistics, England and Wales 1992", Cm. 2581, a copy of which is available in the Library of the House. For the 12 months ending May, the average number of days in custody for untried and convicted unsentenced prisoners is provisionally estimated to be 56 days and 37 days respectively.
