To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what steps he is taking to ensure that British firms gain contracts to build the Jubilee line.

The award of contracts for the Jubilee line extension is entirely a matter for London Underground Ltd. LUL has a duty to secure competitive tenders in a proper legal fashion, having regard to EC directives, and to secure best value for money.
