HC Deb 11 January 1994 vol 235 cc102-3W
Mr. Rowe

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many 16 and 17-year-olds in Kent have not been offered training, education or work under the Government's guarantee in the latest year for which information is available; and what was the figure in the previous year.

Miss Widdecombe

Information on the number of young people who have not had an offer of training, education or work is not collected. However, in November there were 53 young people in Kent who were covered by the youth training guarantee and waiting for eight or more weeks and almost 5,700 in training. This is a significant improvement over March last year when there were 338 young people waiting for eight or more weeks. There is no reliable information available for November 1992 on eight-week queues.
