Whether the United States Administration discussed with them the approach President Clinton and others would adopt towards President Yeltsin, the Parliament 2nd the Government of Russia after the recent elections in that country, and whether they consider appropriate the remarks made whilst in Moscow by the US Treasury Secretary," I want to see some strong reformers left in the Government".

We maintain regular contact with the United States Administration on a wide variety foreign policy issues, including Russia. Both we, and the United States Administration, stand firm in our support for democratic and economic reform in Russia.
