§ Mr. Barry JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what new policies he will adopt to assist the long-term unemployed.
§ Mr. RedwoodI will ensure that our main training programme for long-term unemployed people, training for work, is focused more sharply on getting people into work. In addition my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment has announced a number of measures to help the long-term unemployed which will be implemented in Wales. These include extending community action and an expansion of the work trials scheme. Unemployed people in Wales will also benefit from the improved incentives flowing from the social security changes announced by my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Security.
