To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many imported cattle found to be seropositive to foot and mouth disease have been(a) slaughtered and (b) restricted to the holdings on which they are at present.

Of the 249 cattle of Czech and Polish origin which were tested positive last year for the presence of antibodies to foot and mouth disease, a total of 36 have been slaughtered by their owners; 213 animals remain under movement restriction on their current holdings.
