To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries,and Food who appointed Mr. John Ellis to the post of chairman of the Intervention Board executive agency which oversees banana import licence arrangements.

Mr. John Ellis was appointed chairman of the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce on 22 February 1986 by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretaries of State for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland jointly. Bananas were first brought within the scope of the common agricultural policy in July 1993.
