§ Mr. McNamaraTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the number and percentage of disabled people employed by his Department and associated agencies over the past five years; and what are the projected figures for the next five years;
§ Mr. WaldegraveThe figures for the registered disabled people employed in my Department, including executive agencies, in the past five years are as follows:
66W
1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 Number 139.5 141.5 138.5 159.0 143.5 Percentage 1.4 1.4 1.4 1.6 1.4 In addition to those people registered as disabled, an internal survey of staff shows that the number of people with disabilities is between three and four times greater than the number of those registered as disabled.
No projections have been made for future years.
§ Mr. McNamaraTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the budget allocated by his Department and associated agencies for each of the next five years; and how many staff or staff hours equivalent have been allocated to achieve the objectives of the programme for action to achieve equality of opportunity in the civil service for disabled people.
§ Mr. WaldegraveDepartmental expenditure in support of the programme for action to achieve equality of opportunity in the civil service for disabled people falls to a range of budgets such as accommodation, personnel management, equal opportunities and staff training, and cannot be disaggregated. Similarly, it is not possible to estimate the numbers of staff or staff hours allocated since successful implementation will require commitment not only of equal opportunities officers but of many other sections throughout the Ministry, including executive agencies.
