§ Mr. WelshTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list(a) the Scottish applicants for European Commission financial assistance under this year's awards for the conservation of gardens of historic value and (b) details of the reasons for their failure to secure such funding; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir Hector MonroA list of Scottish applicants for European Commission financial assistance under the 1993 pilot projects scheme to conserve European architectural heritage, is set out in the table below.
Decisions as to whether to provide financial support or not are taken by the Commission on the advice of an international panel of experts. Historic Scotland advised the Commission about the merit of each Scottish application for the 1993 competition; it is not the Commission's practice, however, to comment on why any of the applications failed to receive an award.
