HL Deb 17 May 1993 vol 545 c76WA
Lord Spens

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the average processing time of an individual case in "C3(a) Division" and whether this time is consistent with past years.

Earl Ferrers

In cases of alleged miscarriage of justice which are dealt with in C3 Division it is normally possible to reach a decision in six to eight weeks. Particular cases may take longer to decide, depending upon the nature of the representations and the extent of any police or other enquiries which may need to be made.

The casework on restricted psychiatric patients is not susceptible to this kind of analysis.
