To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland on how many occasions, in each of the past five years(a) a district court, (b) a sheriff court and (c) a Court of Session has requested the European Court of Justice to provide a ruling as provided in article 177 of the treaty of Rome.

[holding answer 11 March 1993]: There have been no such requests from the Court of Session in any of the years referred to. Information about requests from district and sheriff courts is not available centrally.
