HL Deb 28 June 1993 vol 547 c22WA
Lord Kimberley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress, if any, has been made since 17th February 1993 to allow unmarried mothers in the Armed Services the same rights that other Service personnel enjoy in respect of allowances, including those for medical care and education and the right to occupy married quarters.

The Parlimentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Viscount Cranborne)

The review by the Ministry of Defence of the Services' policy on the provision of public married accommodation and associated benefits for single parents serving in the Armed Forces is still in progress. An announcement will be made as soon as the review is concluded.
