HL Deb 28 June 1993 vol 547 c22WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many surveys have been commissioned on the results of performance related pay in the public service; and which have demonstrated that they have led to an improvement in the quality of service provided to the public.

The Minister of State. Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

The Government are committed to the establishment of a regular and direct link between an employee's contribution arid his or her reward. Most performance pay schemes in the public sector have been introduced recently and relevant data about them are not available.
