To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what plans he has to reform the structure of regional tourist boards following the review of local government.

The regional tourist boards (RTBs) are independent, non-statutory membership organisations and the Government have no power to impose changes in their structure. Local authorities have always been active partners in the work of the regional boards, and I am sure that the RTBs and the new authorities which emerge from the review of local government will wish to ensure that an effective working relationship continues.
