To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what arrangements are being made in the United Kingdom for the launch in June of the EC-wide ecolabel; and if he will make a statement.

The European Commission recently announced that the Community ecolabelling scheme would be formally launched in June. The United Kingdom Ecolabelling Board is responsible for administering and promoting the scheme nationally and I have therefore asked the board to reply to the hon. Member direct with more information on the arrangements they will be making for the launch.
