HC Deb 25 February 1993 vol 219 c704W
Mr. Steinberg

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what estimate has been made of the number of university graduates who are at present unemployed and of the breakdown of the figure by degree category.

Mr. McLoughlin

The latest estimate for Great Britain from the summer—June to August–1992 labour force survey is that there were 169,000 people of working age, qualified to degree or equivalent level or above, who were unemployed on the internationally standard International Labour Organisation definition, not seasonally adjusted.

Estimates of unemployed graduates by degree category are all below 10,000.
