To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his policy on buying British cars for use by overseas representatives.

Mr. Goodlad

In accordance with Government guidelines the policy of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is to purchase cars for use by overseas representatives on a value-for-money basis.

British manufacturers are used where they are competitive on quality, fitness for purpose, price and delivery.
