§ 12. Mr. BayleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has to relocate some additional MoD civilian jobs to Imphal barracks, York, to make use of the office space occupied currently by Army manning and records staff prepared for relocation to Glasgow.
§ Mr. Archie HamiltonThe proposal to establish a new Army personnel centre in Glasgow is the subject of consultation with the trade unions. In the event that we proceed with this proposal all personnel will be offered the possibility to tranfer to Glasgow at public expense. Every effort will be made to find employment for those unable or unwilling to transfer, at other Ministry of Defence 569W establishments or with other Government Departments in the area. Other defence uses of the site will be considered once a final decision has been taken.
