To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many producers are entitled to hill livestock compensatory allowances in Northumberland; and how many of those are located in severely disadvantaged areas.

Under the 1991 (the latest year for which complete figures are available) hill livestock compensatory allowances scheme a total of 1,046 applications were submitted in respect of holdings in Northumberland of which 652 related wholly to severely disadvantaged land.
