§ Mr. Meacher
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what policies the Commonwealth Development Corporation has regarding minimum standards for the conditions of workers employed as a result of investment it supports.

§ Mr. Lennox-Boyd
[holding answer 28 January 1993]: It is the Commonwealth Development Corporation's policy to make investments only when it is satisfied that employment policies are in accordance with good local 41W practice. While the Commonwealth Development Corporation remains an investor it uses its influence to ensure that such good employment practices are maintained.
