HC Deb 17 December 1993 vol 234 c958W
Mr. Nigel Evans

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what measures the British Government are taking to further the peace process in Sudan and bring the fighting to an end; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

We have welcomed the initiative of the Kenyan, Ugandan, Ethiopian and Eritrean Presidents to try to encourage dialogue between the Government of Sudan and the factions of the Sudan People's Liberation Army. With other European Union member states, we are addressing ways of putting further pressure on the parties to respond positively to mediation efforts.

Mr. Nigel Evans
