§ Mr. Alfred MorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, (1) pursuant to his answer of 2 December,Official Report, column 678, what response he received to his representations to the Turkish ambassador of 8 November concerning the treatment of Manchester United supporters;
(2) pursuant to his answer of 2 December, Official Report, column 678, whether the British ambassador in 403W Ankara has yet received a report, or other response to his representations to the Turkish authorities on the treatment of Manchester United supporters;
(3) pursuant to his answer of 2 December, Official Report, column 678, in respect of how many Manchester United supporters allegations of maltreatment were sent to the Turkish ambassador.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe British ambassador in Ankara has not yet received a response to his representations to the Turkish authorities.
The Turkish ambassador in London presented a report to us on 23 November. There was much in it to clarify about the treatment by the Turkish authorities of British football fans. On 2 December, we sent the ambassador a list of the 16 main allegations and asked for the Turkish authorities' comments.
