To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many ambulances have been operated by each health authority in Wales in each year since 1979.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what percentage of emergency calls to the ambulance service in each country in Wales in each year since 1987 was answered within(a) eight minutes and (b) 14 minutes.

Until 31 March 1991 standard ambulance response times in Wales were 50 per cent. in eight minutes and 95 per cent. in 20 minutes. Revised classifications of ambulance service—tied to density of population served—came into effect on 1 April 1991:
