HC Deb 22 April 1993 vol 223 c199W
16. Mr. Whittingdale

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much his Department is spending on the "Making Londonderry Work" campaign; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Atkins

The Department is spending £3.064 million on the "Making Londonderry Work" campaign in the 1993–94 financial year. This involves an intensified town centre development programme to restore the built environment, a community action programme to improve the social, economic and environmental conditions of people in the most disadvantaged areas of the city and a promotional strategy emphasising the more positive aspects of life in Londonderry. By the end of March 1994, a total of almost £15 million will have been spent on this initiative.
