To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the current circumstances surrounding the peace-keeping role of the United Nations in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

UNPROFOR. the United Nations peacekeeping operation in the former Yugoslavia is mandated to carry out a number of specific tasks. These include ceasefire monitoring in Croatia—Security Council resolution 743—overseeing the demilitarisation of the Prevlaka Peninsula—SCR 779—reopening and securing Sarajevo airport—SCR 764—support for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' efforts to deliver humanitarian relief throughout Bosnia—SCR 776 —and monitoring compliance with the ban on military flights in Bosnia—SCR 781. The United Kingdom is contributing forces to UNPROFOR operations in both Croatia and Bosnia.
