HC Deb 26 October 1992 vol 212 cc482-3W
19. Mr. Quentin Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects the new channel tunnel Waterloo terminal to be completed.

Mr. Freeman

The new international terminal at Waterloo should be completed by the summer of 1993.

27. Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what progress he has made to finalise plans for the second London channel tunnel station.

Mr. Freeman

British Rail plans to develop King's Cross as the second London Channel tunnel terminal. The King's Cross Railways Bill is currently before Parliament.

29. Ms. Lynne

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the Government's plans for the channel tunnel high-speed rail link.

Mr. Freeman

Currently Union Railways—British Rail's subsidiary—is refining the easterly approach route to London selected by the Government last October. It will report at the end of the year on a reference case route and local options. The Government will then decide on a preferred route for full public consultation.
