HL Deb 23 November 1992 vol 540 c56WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will protest to the Government of Peru concerning the allegation by President Fujimori that the Peru Support Group and one of its members in particular are supporters of the terrorist group Sendero Luminoso, and whether they will ask that the president withdraw this statement in a manner at least as public as the original allegation was made.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Chalker of Wallasey)

The British Ambassador at Lima has already made clear to the Peruvian authorities our belief that the Peru Support Group is a reputable organisation and that neither it nor the individual member named has any connection with Sendero Luminoso. The government of Peru has since acknowledged there are doubts about the accuracy of its allegations.
