asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will make it their policy to support in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the reform of the control mechanism of the European Convention on Human Rights advo-cated by the parliamentary assembly in its recommendation No. 1194 or to support it in any other constructive way.

The UK has made and will continue to make a constructive contribution to discussion within the Council of Europe on reform of the control machinery of the European Convention on Human Rights. We remain committed to finding a long-term solution to the question of reform and will aim to take the discussions on this issue forward during our presidency of the Council of Europe.
