§ Mr. DafisTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make it his policy to introduce an incentive scheme for sheep farmers in less-favoured areas to establish grazing management schemes which include consideration for the hiring of grazing and the conservation of habitats.
§ Mr. CurryThe Government plan to introduce, under the Agri-environment Regulation, a scheme which will provide for an environmentally favourable extensification of sheep farming. This will include appropriate grazing conditions aimed at the conservation of habitats. The new scheme will supplement the beneficial effects of the environmentally sensitive areas scheme on grazing management in the less favoured areas.
