HC Deb 23 November 1992 vol 214 c484W
Mr. Corbett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what recent reports he has had from the Director of Public Prosecutions into further forensic examination by West Midlands police of evidence used in the case of the Birmingham six.

The Attorney-General

I have been asked to reply.

The West Midlands police are continuing the reinvestigation announced on 20 March 1991 into the bombings which occurred in Birmingham on 21 November 1974. Some of the original exhibits have been submitted for further scientific examination. The Director of Public Prosecutions is being kept informed of the progress of the reinvestigation; it is her policy not to make public information gathered during the course of current criminal investigations.
