§ Mr. YeoSince November 1976, 47,668 adopted persons have applied to the Registrar General under the provisions of section 51 of the Adoption Act 1976 for access to their original birth records. Since May 1991 the Adoption Contact register has been available for adopted persons seeking to trace their natural relatives, by entry on the register. On 17 November 1992 a total of 1,804 adopted persons have had their names entered.
