HC Deb 18 November 1992 vol 214 cc269-70W
23. Mr. Malcolm Bruce

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what measures he proposes for improving transport links between Scotland, the rest of the United Kingdom and the European Community.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

My right hon. Friend is undertaking a wide-ranging programme of trunk road improvements. The final sections to complete the dual carriageway link to Aberdeen are under construction and most significantly of all Scotland's main road artery south, the A74 is being totally reconstructed to extend the M6 north to Glasgow. My right hon. Friend is also working closely with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport to encourage, where appropriate, improved rail, air and, sea links to and from Scotland.
