HC Deb 10 June 1992 vol 209 c190W
Mr. Luff

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is considering bringing forward legislative proposals to respond to recommendations made in the report of the noise review working party.

Mr. Baldry

My Department issued yesterday a public consultation document containing proposals which would extend the statutory nuisance procedures to include noise in the street; improve the control of loud speakers in the street; and provide adoptive powers for the local authorities to require the fitting of cut-out devices to burgler alarms. The consultation document also deals with some points of clarification in the existing statutory nuisance provisions in the Environmental Protection Act, 1990. Copies of this consultation paper have been placed in the Libraries of both Houses.
