What proportion of Britain's exported manufactures consist of (a) weapons and (b) of weapons-related or dual capacity equipment.

Weapons' accounted for 2.6 per cent. of Britain's exported manufactures in 1991. Information for weapons-related or dual capability equipment is not readily available.

1 Weapons are defined, in terms of the Standard International Trade Classification (revision 3), as aircraft and associated equipment (all tariff headings in division 79 other than those identified as "civil"; and excluding spacecraft and launch vehicles); warships (tariff heading 890600 100) and arms and ammunition (for military purposes) (division 98).
