We are also working to improve the effectiveness of the International Tropical Timber Organisation and the tropical forestry action programme in promoting the sustainable use of tropical forests, and to ensure that the statement of principles on the sustainable management of the world's forests agreed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio last June is followed up with effective action and an international review process.
