HC Deb 04 December 1992 vol 215 c447W
Mr. Churchill

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will publish the price paid to date to Electricité de France in respect of electricity imports in each month for the term of the present contract, together with the prevailing pool price in each of those months.

Mr. Eggar

This is a commercial matter for those electricity companies that have contracts with EdF.

Mr. Churchill

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is his estimate of the proportion of energy supplies for electricity generation that are likely to be imported by 2020 based on the forecast contained in the DTI Energy Paper 59, October 1992, entitled "Electricity Generated by Type of Plant" (per cent),(a) overall, (b) coal, (c) gas, (d) oil, (e) nuclear and (f) other.

Mr. Eggar

Energy Paper 59 is primarily intended to offer a range of energy-related carbon emissions scenarios as a basis for discussion of environmental issues. Because the carbon contents of domestic and imported fuels are similar the scenarios do not distinguish between them.
