HC Deb 04 December 1992 vol 215 c447W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what evidence he has provided to the United States Government about subsidies paid to British Steel; and by what sums British Steel is currently subsidised.

Mr. Sainsbury

The Government and United Kingdom companies complied with the United States authorities' requests for information on subsidies to the British Steel Corporation as part of a recent investigation under United States countervailing duty legislation. No Government subsidies have been granted to British Steel since the company was privatised in 1988.
