HC Deb 01 December 1992 vol 215 cc128-9W
Mr. Richards

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what measures are being taken to ensure women in Wales receive regular check-ups for breast cancer.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

An all Wales breast screening service for women between the ages of 50 and 64 years is provided by Breast-Test Wales. In accordance with national guidelines, women in this group are screened every three years. Women aged 65 and over will be screened on request. Regular screening for women under 50 years is currently not recommended but all women who experience symptoms which cause concern can and should seek early advice from their general practitioner.
