HC Deb 22 October 1991 vol 196 c658W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what restrictions on the movement of pigs due to blue ear disease have been imposed; in which regions; how many suspected and confirmed cases there are in each region; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Movement restrictions were placed, as a precautionary measure, in late June and early July on five premises in Scotland to which pigs had recently been moved from areas in England subsequently declared to be infected. No cases of the disease were suspected or confirmed on any of these five premises and the restrictions were lifted in due course. The premises concerned were in Dumfries and Galloway, Fife, Grampian, Lothian and Tayside regions.
