Mr. Allan Stewart

Operational details about the skill seekers training credit scheme in Grampian are matters for the local enterprise company, Grampian Enterprise Ltd, and Scottish Enterprise. I have asked the chairman of Scottish Enterprise to write to the hon. Member.

Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent the Government's guarantee about youth training places is currently being met in Grampian region.

Mr. Allan Stewart

As far as I am aware, the Government's guarantee is being fully met in Grampian region. Meeting the guarantee is a condition of the contract between Scottish Enterprise and the local enterprise company, Grampian Enterprise Ltd. Scottish Enterprise monitors compliance with the contract; and would draw attention to failure to meet the guarantee.

Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many employees in Grampian region were involved in youth training in 1990–91.

Mr. Allan Stewart

I regret that this information is not available. Grampian region was part of a larger area for the purposes of the Training Agency; and statistics were not kept on a disaggregated basis below area level.
