HC Deb 21 October 1991 vol 196 c442W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the cost to the Exchequer in respect of the Royal Command air display at Balmoral castle on 20 September, in which the RAF's Red Arrows display team participated.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

On 20 September, the Red Arrows and the Russian Knights, a Soviet Air Force aerobatic team visiting the United Kingdom for the first time, performed a flypast over Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's Scottish residence at Birkhall, on the Balmoral estate. Both aerobatic teams were in transit to RAF Leuchars where they participated in a Battle of Britain "at home" day the following day. There was therefore no additional costs to defence funds.
