Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

Personnel from the Catterick detachment of 11 ordnance battalion, explosive ordnance disposal, were called in to investigate a suspect package found in a building on the Sellafield site on 1 September 1991. In line with normal operational procedure the men wore coveralls. The package was found to be harmless. Government Departments, the nuclear installations inspectorate and the Cumbrian constabulary were fully informed about this event which was also publicised through the Sellafield site newsletter, copies of which are available in the Library of the House.

Service personnel are also able to visit the Sellafield site as are all members of the general public.
