HC Deb 21 October 1991 vol 196 c374W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many applications for compensation have been made to the Nature Conservancy Council; how many have been(a) successful, (b) unsuccessful and (c) undecided; and on what grounds the applications were (a) made and (b) decided in each of the past two years.

Mr. Baldry

Details of the management agreements concluded by the Nature Conservancy Council are contained in tables in its annual reports, which may be found in the Library. Such agreements are subject to negotiation. The NCC has never had to use its powers of compulsory purchase because of failure to reach a conclusion. The three councils which succeeded the NCC assumed responsibility on 1 April for any continuing negotiations.
