HC Deb 18 November 1991 vol 199 c27W
33. Mr. Fraser

To ask the Attorney-General what steps the Government are taking to ensure that more women are appointed to high judicial office.

The Attorney-General

The Lord Chancellor has repeatedly made clear his wish to appoint more suitably qualified women to judicial office. The number of women in the legal profession in the appropriate age groups and with the right experience will increase significantly over time and will undoubtedly lead to the welcome appointment of more women judges.
