To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many non-haemophiliacs in Scotland have contracted HIV infection as a result of contaminated NHS blood/tissue transfers; and how many of those became infected before the introduction of the screening of donations in October 1985.

[holding answer 5 November 1991]: As at 31 October there were 11 reported cases. It is not possible from the information currently available to identify when these cases became infected.
